It all started in his basement as a young boy. Glenn Baller picked up some woodworking tools and started building furniture with scrap lumber and hand tools. This passionate pursuit, which started as a childhood dream, has now manifested into a small group of highly skilled craftsman doing what they love. Glenn Baller & Company builds everything from custom kitchens, to one-of-a-kind heirlooms, proudly building some of the finest woodworking in New England.
Even though they are small, their work is sure to leave a big impression with exquisite details that are truly custom. This type of work required a sanding machine that was flexible while producing results that could live up to the level of perfection Glenn Baller represents.
After consulting with the Stiles sanding team, Glenn Baller found the flexibility and perfection he was looking for in the HOMAG SANDTEQ W-335 RRH.
"Everyone in the shop looks forward to using the HOMAG sander... I even like to come in on Saturdays to use it." - Glenn Baller, Owner
Glenn Baller was looking for a sanding machine that was pretty simple.
“We were originally looking for a sander that could handle our calibration work. We debated whether we needed 2 or 3 heads, what width was necessary, and what features we wanted. Our focus was somewhat narrow due to the variation and nature of our work – which is custom, and not high volume. Rather than just quote a machine like we originally thought we needed, Stiles looked at our work, listened to what we ultimately wanted to achieve and started asking questions.”
The discovery process led to education on sanding technology, and ultimately, the solution evolved. The variety of work was there, however, Glenn needed a sander that could handle this variety well, without compromising in any one area. This included solid wood sanding, veneer sanding and sealer sanding.
The HOMAG SANDTEQ W-335 RRH with Magnetic Pad Technology was the perfect fit. The machine is equipped with a steel drum for perfect calibration, a rubber drum for intermediate sanding and a chevron belt with a magnetic segmented pad system for finish sanding. This combination was the right blend of flexibility and sophistication to handle their variety of work, and maintain crisp edges on the solid wood – while being ultra sensitive on veneers and sealer coats.
“We are very happy with our sander as well as the training and support by Stiles Machinery. The sanding results are incredible, the machine is super easy to use, and we use the machine for so much more than we could have imagined. We never thought we could sand veneer and sealer with a machine, but it does a better job than we could do by hand. This sander truly makes me love what I do.”
