Wächter random length flooring packaging solutions significantly reduce labor and deliver consistent packaging results automatically. Efficiently utilizing space and reducing packing labor required, a light sensor measuring system identifies the length of each plank to be packaged. The best location for each plank is determined from 36 available sorting positions--each sorting position represents a row of a layer to be packed. A rocker sorting system then moves each plank to the specified location. When a completed layer of planks has been correctly positioned, pick and place robots move the completed layer into a five-sided box, which was pre-assembled by a Wächter Tablomat. When the box has been filled according to the specified requirements, it is ejected from the packing station and transported to the lid application area to be finished without a top, with a U lid, or with a five-sided lid. An ideal solution for today's manufacturing requirements.
