Dust Collection
Controlling dust and solvent fumes in the workplace is extremely important, whether you’re a small shop or a sizeable plant. Dust from sanding machines, ripping blades, boring machines, veneer clippers and other machinery create a significant health risk in the workplace, as do solvent fumes released from adhesives and sealants. The risks are significant enough that they are monitored by regulatory bodies such as OSHA.
Dust extraction also presents another challenge – it can reduce the longevity of your machines and wreak havoc with the quality of your work. Dust can affect the productivity of your employees, clog sensitive sensors, suffocate motors, and dull blades, bits and cutters. And it can mar the finish of fine veneer or make it impossible to create a surface smooth and clean enough for a finish such as lacquer.

Choosing a dust management/fume capture system takes into consideration the physical size of your workplace, the type, frequency and duration of the equipment you use, and the types of solvents found in your cleaners, adhesives, and sealants.
If your operation is quite small and/or focused on tabletop work, a downdraft table (ambient air table) may meet your needs, and there are various sizes to choose from. If your company is operating a plant that measures in the thousands of square feet, there are complete, turnkey collection systems that will cycle the air via either positive or negative pressure, inside or outside of the workplace. In between are dozens of models to target your specific requirements; several of the systems are modular, so you can purchase only what you need now and add more collection capacity as your business grows.
Stiles offers you a wide assortment of dust management solutions, from downdraft tables and small dust collectors that filter at 1,000 CFM, to industrial size collectors that range from 15,000 CFM to the extent of your needs, no matter how significant. We’ve chosen to work with the industry’s two top companies to assure you of the best possible working conditions.
