Sliding Table Saws
The undisputed leader in sliding table saws
Altendorf was born from the same spark of ingenuity that has launched so many remarkable companies. A German furniture craftsman, Wilhelm Altendorf, was dissatisfied with his woodworking machining tools. So he designed his own, a sawing machine on which the work piece was guided over the saw blade on a sliding table; thus introducing the sliding table saw that is the core of so many contemporary wood shops.
Since that development in 1906, Altendorf has grown to become the world market and technology leader for sliding table saws, producing over 5,000 saws each year for over 130,000 users worldwide. Seven of every 10 sliding table saws in the United States are made by Altendorf.
Stiles is proud to represent Altendorf, for their long history, for their commitment to excellence, and for their 100% focus on sliding table saws. We offer a variety of Altendorf SlidersTM, ranging from entry-level models with manual controls to sophisticated models offering features to greatly enhance throughput and operator digital interactivity. Other features across the product line include motorized blade positioning, crosscut miter fences, motorized rip fences, and incrementally adjustable speeds.
The evolution of Altendorf Sliding Table Saws
Berlin, 1906. To manufacture his own furniture designs, Wilhelm Altendorf constructed a saw on which the work piece was guided over the saw on a sliding table. He never dreamed that with this Altendorf system sliding table and edging circular saw, he would be laying the foundation for a global company.
Over the course of the next century, the Altendorf achieved legendary status and the company became the world market leader in the sliding table saw sector.
Wilhelm Altendorf produced his first machines in Berlin. 1919 saw him move the company's headquarters to Minden in Westphallia. This is still the home of Altendorf, which remains a family company to this day.
The world market leader's research and development activities are also conducted from here, as are its central functions within service, marketing, and sales.
All the company's high end machine types for use in the wood, metal, and plastic processing industry are manufactured at the ultra-modern production facility in Minden. To meet the requirements of emerging markets, Altendorf developed models in the lower price segment. These are produced at the company's own plants in China and Brazil. Subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, Australia, and America, plus numerous local sales partners, direct global sales activities. Altendorf has thus been able to sell over 130,000 sliding table saws in more than 120 countries around the world and to set the standards for this type of machine throughout the sector.
Every one of the more than 4,500 sliding table saws leaving Altendorf's plants each year represents a promise to its customers that they are acquiring a superior quality product proudly boasting the "Made by Altendorf" label.
The creativity, experience, and passionate enthusiasm of Altendorf's engineers has resulted in a stream of exclusive developments, protected by worldwide patents. Since 1993, Altendorf products have regularly won the honors at international design and technology competitions. As a specialist, Altendorf benefits from being able to concentrate exclusively on the continuing development of a single type of machine.
As a result, our products are second to none, giving users the reassurance that it's a genuine Altendorf.
