ACMOS Release Agents & Lubricants for the Woodworking Industry

Over the last 30 years, ACMOS products have become well established in the woodworking industry. Where quality is the main criterion, ACMOS products are now indispensable.

Whereas in the 1950s and 60s it was initially a matter of using ACMOS products to improve outdated manufacturing methods, in later years machines became more sophisticated, which caused ACMOS to update its products.

Right from the start ACMOS has always worked closely with machine manufacturers and glue and adhesive producers. The result is that customers do not have to waste time on experimental or trial products, but are provided with fully developed, tried and tested products that are ready for immediate use.

Protecting the environment and promoting a healthy working environment were always high priorities for ACMOS. ACMOS developed its first solvent-free products over 30 years ago. These include water-based release agents, which are now more in demand than ever. Other ACMOS products are of such high quality that they could even be used for protecting the skin (i.e. they are not just tolerated by the skin but actively care for it as well).

First and foremost in the extensive ACMOS product range are the release agents. These products are used anywhere surfaces must not stick together. The characteristics of a release agent depend largely on the type of glue against which it is intended to act. However, even more important are the surfaces with which the release agent is in contact. ACMOS has carried out pioneering work—especially on top-quality woods and veneers, where excellent release characteristics, a long working life and absolute reliability during follow-up treatment are essential. Using newsprint or other auxiliary materials as so called facing papers is now a thing of the past.

ACMOS products can also be used with plastic-coated surfaces, where it is a matter of preventing the edges—especially of a pressing plate—from sticking, and of keeping the pressed surfaces clean.

It is hard to imagine the manufacture of sheets of high grade hardboard, MDF or even some chipboard without using ACMOS release agents. Here it is not only the release effect which is important, but also the way the surface of the compressed material is affected by the release agent. It is also a matter of producing surfaces which permit subsequent treatment, such as gluing, pasting, bonding or painting. This is all easily achieved by using ACMOS release agents.

Other areas of application call for the use of internal release agents, which are added to a glue liquor or a resin mixture. Here, too, ACMOS products have proven their worth and are used and recognized worldwide.

The main purpose of ACMOS release agents is, of course, to ensure that the production process runs smoothly, and the compressed material has perfect surfaces. However, it should not be forgotten that continuous use of a release agent has a preservative effect on a pressing plate and can considerably extend its life.

Another wide range of products consists of the special lubricants in the WAXILIT series. Originally used in processing wet or rough timber, these products are used anywhere wood has to slide over metal, or where a similar lubricant effect is needed where wood slides over wood or plastic. Automatic set-up processes on wood processing machines mean that a special lubricant has to be used to stop the pumps, tubes and nozzles from becoming blocked or glued up. ACMOS has produced a lubricant for this which, like the other products for this kind of use, ensures problem-free working in every respect.

Grinding agents for bladed grinding machines, resin removers, special cleaners for plastic surfaces and anti-corrosion products complete the range.

ACMOS uses modern production processes to ensure consistent and accurate products. Its well equipped laboratory means the quality of products is guaranteed, and it is also able to meet special customer requests, often within a few days. Despite the extensive product range which ACMOS now provides for the woodworking industry, it is still sometimes necessary to meet special requests for products which customers will only use in particular circumstances.

Applications engineers advise and support customers on their own premises. There are regional representatives to offer support, while an extensive network of machine tool dealers, adhesive retailers, timber wholesalers etc. ensures that even small-scale users can be supplied with ACMOS products as quickly as possible.

ACMOS has branches in France , England , the USA and Brazil . The company has also had permanent agents for many years in all European countries, overseas and in the Far East , so that a global supply of ACMOS products can be guaranteed.
